Our mission
Regulatory clarity for the people who carry the weight of it
Ask a DON exists so no nurse, administrator or compliance leader has to guess at a requirement, hunt through a 700-page manual, or wait until Monday for an answer they need right now.
Why we built it
Ask a DON comes out of three decades of post-acute nursing leadership — surveys, plans of correction, QAPI committees, in-services written at 10 p.m., and the quiet dread of a knock at the door on a Tuesday morning.
The regulations themselves were never the hard part. The hard part was finding the right requirement quickly, understanding what a surveyor would actually expect, and turning that into a policy, an audit tool or a correction your team could follow. That work has always fallen on people who were already short-staffed.
So we built the resource we wanted: an assistant that answers in plain language, shows its citation, and knows the difference between the federal requirement and your state's version of it. Then we built the facility-level version of that same intelligence, so an entire leadership team could work from one source of truth.
Today Ask a DON is two products under one brand — a mobile assistant for individual healthcare professionals, and a browser-based compliance platform for facilities and healthcare organizations.
"Compliance shouldn't feel like a trap. It should feel like someone experienced is standing next to you."
The standard every answer in Ask a DON is measured against.
For individuals — the mobile app with Donnie, your Library and voice input.
For facilities — the browser-based Facility Suite with Audrey and survey tools.
Every answer is citable
If we can't point you to the federal or state source, we don't state it as fact. Compliance work has to survive a surveyor's question.
Written the way a mentor talks
Plain language first, regulation second. The goal is that a nurse three months into a DON role feels supported, not tested.
Built for real buildings
Survey cycles, staffing gaps, QAPI meetings, plan-of-correction deadlines. The product follows the actual calendar of a facility.
